Making Progress
I’m finally reaching a stage where I can say this project is shaping up to be a real success. All the miniatures have their base colors and first highlights done with the airbrush (Army Painter Air paints are working out well and my initial horrors of Airbrush clogging belong to the past), the Riptide and Devilfish are complete, and I’ve started working on the Breacher Team.
This is the fun part: when a project begins to spread its wings and motivation starts growing exponentially. Now it’s time to arrange everything nicely, maybe take some photos, and put together a little gallery. That should give the whole thing an extra boost of inspiration.

Priming Check!
Because of the weather and work, I haven’t been able to prime the army until now. But I made good use of the rainy days in between and built the Raveners Kill Team and a Broadside Battlesuit.
During priming, I ran into one of my small social anxieties: my neighbor asked, “Hey, what are you doing?” Well… I’m spray-painting my little plastic soldiers. I still feel like building and painting Warhammer (or miniatures in general) is my “guilty pleasure.” I think I should be old enough to be confident about it by now, But I still work on it.
Especially since building and painting bring me a lot of peace, it should be easy. It’s like little 15-minute vacations every other day. By the way, in return my neighbor asked: “Ah, something like Warhammer?” So my hobby is not so unknown. ;-)
By the way, the painted Tau models you see here are ones I finished some time ago and should give you an idea of my color scheme.

Getting Motivated Through Community
Sometimes, the best way to fight the grey tide is together. My remote gaming group came up with the perfect plan: a small Warhammer 40K Christmas tournament. We tried this before with a AoS Spearhead tournament and even though I did’t paint the whole Spearhead, it gave me a motivational boost. (Maybe I’ll show some Skellingtons later.
Since I already collect Tau built and painted some, there was kind of a ground groundstock but to hit 1,000 points, I needed to build a commander, a breacher team, a Devilfish, some Crisis Suits, and of course a ridiculous number of drones. Building? Done.
So for now, the plan is simple: grab the airbrush, add some color, and push through. With a bit of luck the cadre will be ready to hit the table by Christmas.
